Training Your Horse to Drive
Horses love to drive and it is very beneficial for older horses. Driving unlike riding, does not require weight on the horses back or a tight girth around their belly. The weight of the vehicle and passengers are on the wheels, not on the horse. Most horses take to driving very quickly, especially if they are already trained saddle horses. We prefer to train at your barn, where your horse is most comfortable.
Using our method, your horse will learn to:
-Be comfortable in harness and blind bridle. -Long line in harness. -Carriage driving commands. -Be hitched to a carriage. -Turn and change speed while hitched.
